Title: IT Quality Assurance and Control Specialist Department: Portfolio & Project Management Reports To: Dir Portfolio & Proj Mgmt Position Type: Staff Position Summary: NJIT is in the middle of an exciting Digital Transformation journey.
To support this transformation, the Information Services and Technology (IST) division is looking for a Quality Assurance and Control Specialist to ensure the quality and reliability of our software applications and IT systems.
Reporting to the Director of Portfolio and Project Management, the QA/QC Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing quality control and assurance processes, conducting testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve software defects.
The IT Quality Assurance and Control Specialist will play a crucial role in developing the standards of our IT systems.
The incumbent may be called upon to manage the deployment of a mid-level project with an emphasis on gathering business requirements and/or user stories, along with task management, risk and issue management.
This role will play an important role in realizing NJIT’s digital strategy by becoming a key team member in implementing next generation quality standards, product management and system development lifecycle frameworks within the established project management methodology.
The QA/QC Specialist will assist with continuous improvement and maturation of project management, delivery planning, and change management while driving towards highly consistent and successful outcomes.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, along with an ability to solve problems collaboratively and drive a culture of improved quality standards.
The individual should be a consensus-builder and must constantly learn and adapt to the rapid rate of change in IT and the business of academia.
Essential Functions: - Coordinate the end-to-end system development lifecycle (requirements gathering, configure, test case development, training programs) of medium scale technology platforms.
- Collaborate with business and academic unit leadership and various internal teams to develop and adopt new technologies.
- Develop end user and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Develop process related documentation including process flows/diagrams, system design documents, end user acceptance criteria.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive quality assurance and control plans for IT projects and software implementations - Define test objectives, strategies, and scope for quality assurance activities.
- Design and execute test cases, scripts, and scenarios to ensure software functionality and system performance.
- Conduct various testing cycles including but not limited to unit, functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.
- Identify and document defects, issues, and discrepancies, and work with stakeholders to resolve them.
- Verify and validate data integrity and system functionality.
- Create and maintain quality assurance documentation, including test plans, test reports, and defect logs.
- Continuously review and enhance quality assurance processes and methodologies to improve the overall software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate quality assurance into their workflow and ensure that best practices are followed.
- Ensure that software and systems adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to other team members to ensure quality practices are well-understood and consistently applied.
Prerequisite Qualifications: - A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in quality assurance and control, software testing, and defect management.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and best practices.
- Proficiency in using quality assurance and testing tools.
- Several years experience managing small to medium scale technology deployments, incorporating hybrid delivery models, and incorporating agile practices.
- Working knowledge of relevant business management principles, experience analyzing current processes to determine improvement in order to achieve efficiencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment, and a commitment to user experience.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated experience working with multiple business leaders across the organization.
- Excellent facilitation, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and keep the team focused and motivated when faced with unforeseen changes and uncertainty.

Preferred Qualifications: - Relevant certifications (e.
g.
ISTQB) a plus.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and best practices.
- Proficiency in using quality assurance and testing tools.
