The Director, Custom Training reports to the Associate Provost for Continued Learning at NJIT and oversees the Account Managers responsible for the prospecting, marketing, selling, and fulfillment of Business to Business (B2B) custom corporate training programs.
The Director, Custom Training provides leadership for and management of the office that will eventually include several Account Managers.
The Director builds relationships with C suite executives, networks with NJIT alum, and engages with individuals in various industries across the state of New Jersey.
Additionally, the Director works with the Associate Provost to create, monitor, and assess a monthly sales forecast and provides weekly updates, and quarterly reports.
By meeting with clients, understanding their needs, and then developing innovative solutions the Director represents NJIT to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and is responsible for achieving revenue goals, providing excellent customer service, and managing the backend fulfillment process for each project.

Essential Functions –
Developing a book of business while also holding weekly meetings with each of the Account Managers to track progress for the various projects in each portfolio.
Champions change, efficiency, and constant improvement.
Provide weekly, quarterly, and yearly updates to the Associate Provost.
Serve as the lead point of contact for all customer account management matters in their specific
Promote the NJIT Continued Learning portfolio to prospective clients by developing creative strategies to identify and obtain new clients.
Build, enhance, and implement long-term client relationships and communication at the C-level, with executives, key decision-makers, and influencers.
Ensure our partners have an exceptional experience.
Collaborate with NJIT internal stakeholders to facilitate client need fulfillment.
Establish strategic marketing plans designed to grow market activity, revenue, and program development.
Write detailed account proposals ensuring that the learning objectives are clearly communicated to the client.
Negotiate contract renewals, amendments, and expansions by collaborating with cross-functional teams and owning the discussion with the client.
Additional Functions –
Evaluate the Account Managers on an ongoing basis in alignment with HR’s policies for employee review.
Participate in events both on and off campus (ex: job fairs, career fairs, and chamber meetings).
Understanding of consumer behaviors and industry trends.
Maintaining updated knowledge of NJIT’s offered degree programs and services.
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to solve problems creatively, effectively, and efficiently individually and with others.
Ability to travel (approximately 30%) within the state or region assigned.
Prerequisite Qualifications –
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
10 or more years of experience in sales, account management, marketing, and/or consulting
5 years of managing teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task.
Demonstrable ability to communicate, present and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization, including executive and C-level.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and building relationships and networks within and outside of the university.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary.
At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Supervisory experience
Previous experience as a B2B sales
Strong knowledge of Canva preferred
