Title: Digital Content Creator Department: Center for Community Systems Reports To: Dir, Ctr for Community Systems Position Type: Staff Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of the Center for Community Systems, the Digital Content Creator creates content and graphics for the Center’s digital tools, videos, and learning modules.
The Digital Content Creator coordinates with the Director to ensure that online content is developed and structured to meet users’ needs and meet the Center’s educational goals.
The Digital Content Creator manages and performs website editorial activities including the formatting of online instructional information and tools to enhance the user experience and ease of access.
Essential Functions: - Collaborates with the Center for Community Systems’ staff to determine the topics for the learning modules, animated how-to-videos, infographics, and other digital tools.
- Creates, edits/proofreads text and layout for digital tools (including infographics), animated videos, short online learning modules, event marketing materials, and educational pamphlets.
- Develops computer-generated graphic-design for digital tools (including infographics), animated videos, short online learning modules, event marketing materials, and educational pamphlets.
- Identifies brownfield redevelopment success stories.
Conducts interviews with relevant stakeholders.
Develops a story board for the creation of live action videos focusing on those success stories and oversees the production of the videos created by subcontractors.
- Manages the Center’s multiple websites.
Contributes to the redesign of the websites.
Uploads various tools and resources to the site and provides updates as needed.
Gathers user feedback for website improvement and enhancements.
Curates resources created by other organizations and uploads them to websites.
- Contributes content to the Center’s social media.
- Research industry trends to present ideas and concepts for timely digital innovation.
- Oversees quality assurance - Other duties as required.
Prerequisite Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in digital design or related field.
4 to 7 years of progressive experience - Demonstrated experience in instructional design or eLearning platform development and graphic/layout design.
- Proven graphic designing, animated video development, and online educational platform experience.
- A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics.
- Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Drupal or other CMS, as well as video software).
Excellent computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
- Experience with popular online graphic design platforms.
- A keen eye for aesthetics and details.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically, balance multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Experience working in the environmental, economic development, or community revitalization fields is a plus.
- Must have a NJ driver’s license.
